It's a recession: and that means point-solutions and smaller tech vendors are prime targets for acquisition by larger fish in the sea. Here's the latest: ZapInfo, a leading sourcing tool created by Doug Berg and his team in 2015, has been acquired by Indeed. The details of the deal have not been announced. The company has taken $4.9m over several rounds of seed funding since its founding.

ZapInfo was created to be a subscription service that sourcers and recruiters could use to leverage machine learning and semantic search to automated the collection of prospect-data. Used in conjunction with tools such as SeekOut and HireTual, it rapidly gained popularity in the sourcing community.

It sounds like this may impact paid users, and the future of the tool itself. According to the press release:

ZapInfo was primarily a paid subscription service that enabled Zapping contacts and candidates from several online sources, after the acquisition the Zapinfo technology is intended to be a free resource that can be used by nearly all top ATS/CRM users to automate the recruiting process between their ATS/CRM and Indeed’s product suite.
