Indeed Releases the Indeed Hiring Platform, Moving the Industry Closer to the Brass Ring of Unified Solutions

Indeed, the world’s number one job site, announced today the launch of Indeed Hiring Platform, a new solution that allows employers to manage the hiring process – from posting through interview – directly on Indeed, with no additional software. The goal of the solution is to "dramatically shorten the time it takes to get candidates into jobs, from weeks to days."

In one integrated experience, employers will be able to automate the process of sourcing, screening, and scheduling interviews with quality candidates into Indeed’s proprietary video interviewing technology, Indeed Interview.

According to the press release: “At Indeed, our mission is to help people get jobs, and this past year that mission has been more vital than ever,” said Chris Hyams, CEO of Indeed.  “In response to the pandemic, last year we launched Indeed Interview to make it safe and effective for job seekers to interview over video. Our vision is to make getting a job as easy as pushing a button, and Indeed Hiring Platform gets us one step closer.”

Indeed Hiring Platform helps employers quickly ramp up hiring in a way that is simple, fast, and fair. Employers set objective screening criteria, so any job seeker whose skills are a match has the opportunity to interview directly through the platform. Since employers are able to spend less time on manual tasks, they have more time to engage with quality candidates.

“The direct connections enabled by this solution solves real problems for job seekers and employers,” said Maggie Hulce, SVP at Indeed.  “We eliminate administrative tasks, like reading resumes and scheduling interviews, that slow the hiring process for employers.  We also give job seekers a direct path to showcase their skills and qualifications to recruiters and hiring managers. ”

Job seekers who meet a job’s objective criteria can immediately progress to an interview, providing much-needed transparency in the application process. More than 200,000 job seekers have already connected with employers on Indeed Hiring Platform.

“When you have to rapidly grow or rebuild your workforce, the traditional approaches for sourcing candidates, reviewing resumes, and manually scheduling interviews feel painfully slow.” said Hulce in the statement. “It’s a better experience for both the job seeker and employer if you automate the steps that lead to the interview so the human connections needed to make hires happen faster.”

RNN followed up with Hulce to understand the drivers behind the creation of Indeed Hiring Platform, and where they see it being adopted earliest:

What drove the product's creation - what data and trends supported the investment?

At the beginning of the pandemic, both employers and job seekers had to transition their hiring processes almost over night so that both parties could safely make connections in a way that reflected social distancing protocols. We first worked on adapting our Hiring Events solution so that employers could host these hiring events virtually by using third party interviewing platforms.  We then quickly focused on building our own video interviewing solution, Indeed Interview, which has been designed specifically for interviewing and hiring. We then integrated this video interviewing technology into our virtual hiring events offering so that employers who host those hiring events solutions could use this interviewing platform to conduct interviews for those events.

We have now built upon those capabilities to allow employers to accelerate the end-to-end hiring process on Indeed for any job an employer posts on Indeed, not just for those that are being hired for as part of a virtual hiring event. Indeed Hiring Platform connecting the dots from the job posting to interviews, with no additional software. The solution creates a fully integrated experience where employers can reach 80% of US job seekers on Indeed and Glassdoor and automate the process of sourcing, screen and schedule interviews with quality candidates into Indeed’s video interviewing technology, Indeed Interview. This dramatically shortens the time it takes to get candidates into jobs from weeks to days.

Indeed Hiring Platform allows for interviews to happen faster and creates a better experience for job seekers and employers. Employers appreciate that they can spend less time on manual tasks and more time engaging with quality candidates, starting with the first interview.   And jobseekers gain greater transparency into the process as there is no more waiting or wondering where they stand in the process, if they express interest, have required qualifications, they can immediately schedule an interview.

What industries do you think will be most receptive as early adopters, and why.

Indeed Hiring Platform is a great option to fill any role, but has been designed with a focus on high volume hiring. We have already seen thousands of interviews successfully conducted for hundreds of different types of roles, including:

  • Customer Service / Call Center Representatives
  • Healthcare: RN, LPN, Home Health Aides, Nursing/Medical Assistants
  • Warehouse: Order Pickers, Forklift Operators
  • Sales: Associate, Inside Sales
  • Retail/Restaurant: Cashier, Stocking, Servers, Merchandisers, Bartender, Host
  • Drivers: Delivery Drivers, Trucking
  • Mechanical: Maintenance Tech, Machine Operators
  • Security Officers

---------------------------------------------------------

Indeed Hiring Platform has the potential to transition talent acquisition out of a process+tech rut it has been trapped in for decades. Old-school, and poorly developed, applicant tracking systems like Taleo have done massive disservice to both job seekers and employers. Thoughtful automation across mundane tasks, within a unified solution, has the potential to drive the change the industry needs. Time will tell, and this author is cynical enough to be cautious about anything promising, but Indeed has a track record of delivery and the internal talent to deliver on new expectations. Color us carefully optimistic.
