Employees say you can put a dollar amount on trust.

Forty-seven percent of employees and managers would be willing to give up 20% of their pay for more trust in the workplace, according to a Jan. 11 State of Employee Trust Report report by security platform provider Cerby.

Similarly, 81% of employees said they experienced more energy, happiness and productivity when they felt trusted at work, the report found.

“If you remember one thing after reading this report, let it be this: when it comes to your data, assets, applications and services, aim for Zero Trust. But when it comes to your employees, high levels of human trust should be the goal,” Cerby Chief Trust Officer Matthew Chiodi wrote in the report.

Of respondents, 20% said they trusted their employer to treat them fairly, and 23% believed their organization trusted them.

Apart from trust, employees also said they cared about flexibility (48%), autonomy (42%) and being allowed to choose which applications they used to work (39%), the report found.

The report highlighted two areas where employers can focus their energy to improve employee job satisfaction, happiness and stress levels: engagement and empowerment. Of respondents, 84% said being engaged and able to work with others was of high importance, and 81% said being empowered to make decisions about their job was very important.
